http://ruggachick.com/ TRI-NATIONS RUGBY 2010 Week 3 http://twitter.com/ruggachick Good day fans. The Springboks headed to Brisbane for their 3rd game in the Tri-Nations, whilst the Aussies where more than ready for their 1st match. During the week the Aussies claimed that the Springboks are their biggest challenge in this competition despite the All Blacks dominating. Although the Aussies have a young inexperienced team they still have a huge home advantage with a massive crowd behind them, the pressure is definitely on the Springboks. A tip tackle from Jaque Fourie left him in the Sin Bin 4 minutes into the game, this pattern has seemed to repeat it self for the green and gold. The Wallabies stepped up the pace and took advantage of scoring opportunities. At halftime both sides have given away quite a few penalties and the kickers have gladly taken the points. The Springboks are struggling to cross the try line and the Aussies are making sure they stay in Bok territory. Drew Mitchell scored the 1st try of the game giving the Aussies a comfortable lead going into the 2nd half. Defense and the Breakdown area seems to be the biggest problem for the Springboks, although at some stages it looked good from the green and gold they still lacked pace. The Aussies were awake and noticed the weaknesses, they simply outplayed and outscored a struggling Springbok side. The Springboks head back home for a much needed break, whilst the All Blacks make their way to Melbourne for their 1st clash against the Aussies.

http://ruggachick.com/ TRI-NATIONS RUGBY 2010 Week 2 https://twitter.com/ruggachick The Boks are handed a bounce back opportunity, whilst the All Blacks are hungry for another win to dominate this competition. “After last weeks defeat the Springboks need a metal change to show their competitiveness going into this game. I find that task very challenging when facing such an intimidating Haka!” Discipline seems to be a huge problem for the Springboks. A yellow for Danie Ressow, left them with 14 men on the field against an attacking All Black team. To surprise it wasn’t Dan Carter’s day missing 5 kicking attempts. The All Blacks are on a roll leading the game going into the second half, the Springboks have made some changes and they need to take control of the game if they want to turn it around. New Zealand wasted no time to pick up a second consecutive win and bonus point, in doing so they took back the Freedom cup. The line outs and scrums looked much better from the Springbok side, but defense let them down as the nr 1 team outscored them.

http://ruggachick.com/ TRI-NATIONS RUGBY 2010 The Tri-Nations has kicked off! The Southern Hemisphere has been dominating the world of rugby. The number one team took on the defending champions and it was no surprise that the game was packed with loads of action. "The Haka always scares me, New Zealand put so much aggression in to that... Anyway the challenge has been laid down, the Springboks seem pumped, game on." The game started off on a shaky note. Dan Carter missed his first attempt to the goal posts and Bakkies Botha was sent to the sin bin. This allowed the All Blacks to take control of the game and all of a sudden it was try time. "New Zealand are leading comfortably going into the second half, whilst the Springboks seem under pressure and need to work harder on their defensive structure." All in all things just didn't seem to go right for the Springboks. Credit to the All Blacks they took advantage of the line out's, scrums and speed never seems to be a problem for the men in black. http://ruggachick.com/ SUPER 14 RUGBY 2010 FINAL The Bulls and the Stormers have dominated this competition since the start and provided us a smashing Super 14 Final. Critics claim that the occasion might have been to be for the Stormers, but I think after last week’s semi finals it was clear that the Bulls were set to defend their title successfully. The Bulls are Champs! History was made at Soweto and I was there to capture the historical event. This sadly brings us to the end of this tournament, but thankfully we still have a lot of rugby ahead of us. Stay tuned for all the updates, you can log onto my website at RuggaChick.com

Crusaders 40 beat Brumbies 22 The Triple C phenomena was in full swing. Carter had some embarrassing moments, but the Crusaders played really well and secured their spot in the Semi’s. Errors, mistakes and penalties were all the Brumbies had to face and it cost them the game. Waratahs 32 beat Hurricanes 16 Who was it gonna be the Tahs or the Canes? The Canes have been on the edge of the Semi’s until the Tahs brought them a huge game, knocking them out! The Tahs out played the Canes, picked up a bonus point and booked their spot in play offs. Sharks 27 beat Force 22 What is there to play for when you are definitely out of the Semi’s? Pride! It’s been a bizarre year for the Sharks and a bit of a crazy “rollo coster” ride for the Force. It wasn’t a great game of rugby, but the Sharks had the last say and ended their tournament on a strong foot. Blues 30 beat Chiefs 20 The Blues and Chiefs might have been out of the run for the Semi’s but it didn’t stop then from bringing a great game of rugby to the fans. The Chiefs had a strong start and then they spiraled down towards the end of the tournament, whilst the Blue’s finished off their campaign with great back line action, a win and a bonus point. Reds 38 beat Highlanders 36 The Highlanders didn’t have a great tournament as they only managed to win 3 games, whilst the Reds surprised us through out the season with great performances. The Highlanders looked like they were going strongly, but the Reds dominated them and outscored them with 6 tries to 5. The Reds have done so well this year, they should be disappointed not being in the top 4. Cheetahs 59 beat Lions 10 The Lions are sooo happy this tournament is over for them. I mean honestly excuses and injuries can also go so far. They should be very worried and ashamed of their performances. In the beginning the Cheetahs lost star player Heinrich Brussow and it seemed to go all wrong for them, then they played with out their captain on tour and it went from bad to worse, but hey reassured us with a strong comeback and couldn’t ask for a better ending as they whitewashed the Lions! Stormers 38 beat Bulls 10 Apparently the Bulls do have a B team and they are nothing like the A team! It’s was a bit like a school team led by a general taking on the Stormers who are on top form. It was no surprise that the Stormers won and secured themselves a home semi final.

Highlanders 26 - Waratahs 10 What an unexpected spectacular start to round 12. The Highlanders played superbly. They whipped out their A game in bad conditions and beat the Tahs, leaving them heartbroken as their chances run out to make play-offs. Stormers 42 - Crusaders 14 Wow! The Stormers smashed the Crusaders. The Crusaders were simply outplayed and yet again denied a bonus point. The men from Cape Town made history and have their eyes firmly on a spot in the semi finals. Hurricanes 33 - Chiefs 27 The Canes just came out of nowhere and pulled the carpet out under the Chiefs with those two late tries. The Chiefs seemed confident and in control, but the Canes are desperately keeping their chances alive. Brumbies 32 - Reds 12 The Reds lost their magic winning sparkle as they were pray to the Brumbies. An outstanding performance from the Brumbies. They had a brilliant game and made the high flying Reds look like frustrated amateurs. Cheetahs 36 - Blues 32 Last week the Cheetahs managed to win and this week they make history by winning the Blue’s for the first time ever. That first try in 150 seconds was amazing. The Blue’s just battled to focus and sadly the Cheetahs made them suffer for their errors and ended their play off hopes. Force 33 - Lions 12 Lions Captain Cobus Grobbelaar says they can’t give up! How about waking up and face the fact that they have lost 11 games and then doing something about it!! The Force played for some pride and did a great job, nearly picking up a bonus point. Bulls 27 - Sharks 19 A sold out and rainy Loftus hosted the final game for the weekend. It was a true South African clash with the Springbok forwards battling out the powerful scrums. The Sharks just couldn’t hang in there as the Bulls pulled themselves together during the 2nd half, aiming for a home final.

SUPER 14 2010 review Round 10Good day Fans, round 10 was a mess and even though we had 3 different leaders on the log, the rugby just wasn%U2019t great this weekend and a lot of teams had serious problems with bad ball handling, unforced errors and missed opportunities. Chiefs vs StormersWe kicked of with the red hot Stormers smashing the Chiefs. The Chiefs are spiraling down, stomaching a 5th loss. The Stormers defended superbly and attacked big time claiming 6 tries and after this game they jumped to nr 1 on the log. Brumbies vs HurricanesThe Canes became the 1st team to claim 4 wins against the Brumbies in Canberra. It%U2019s no surprise that the Brumbies lost, the referee handed out yellow cards left and right and they played for 20 min with only 14 men on the field. Bad ball handling gave the Canes plenty of opportunity to add points to the score board and keep the playoffs in reach.Blues vs Western ForceThe Force are back to their old ways, looks like their winning luck has run out. Joe Rokocoko is such a great player contributing 3 tries of the 6 Blues tries. The Force completely forgot about their Attacking game and felt sorry for themselves after the game! Oh well the captain %U201Ccaptain name here%U201D thought his team had a good learning experience. Crusaders vs CheetahsThe men from Bloemfontein faced the Triple C phenomena. Oh my goodness the poor Cheetahs couldn%U2019t even score a try. Os Du Randt needs to work some magic in that Cheetah scrum, cause they have huge problems as they are still winless on tour. The Crusaders came out in full force, proving why they are capable of winning this competition. They played a good game and are currently the leaders on the log. Reds vs BullsThe Bulls where nowhere on that field, they played such sloppy laid back rugby. What the hell was Deon Stegman thinking, tackling team mate Spies? This sealed the deal and made the bulls look like complete fools! Veteran Pedrie Wannenburg tried making a come back late in the 2nd half but it was just too little too late. On the Reds side I have to say Cooper is a hillarious, missing his 1st two windsurfing kicks and then giving Van der Heefer a head rub after he supposedly thought he scored a try. All in all a good performance from the Reds giving the big crowd a great reason to celebrate. Lions vs SharksI was surprised to see the Lions bringing a their best game to the Sharks.I honestly thought the Sharks were going to bury the Lions in the Ellis Park grass, but Something amazing happened in the Lions camp this week, they were tought how to defend and attack. It worked but wasn%U2019t enough. The Sharks managed to hang in for dear life, upsetting the Lions supporters and ultimately taking home a win.

SUPER 14 RUGBY 2010: Week 9 Yükleyen: ruggachick
http://ruggachick.com/RUGBY: SUPER 14 2010 review Round 9 WOW what an exciting round 9! We had a feast of make or break games, yeah I am talking about great rugby action. Bulls 33 vs Chiefs 19 We kicked off with the defending champions proving why they are currently holding on to that cup winning the Chiefs for the 1st time ever in Hamilton. This was truly a re-match of the final last season ...and it was a hard battle. The Chiefs overpowered the Bulls, but the Bulls fought back with 4 tries, Fourie du preez would however argue 5 tries ?? OH and Thankfully Morne’s boot made up for his moment of embarrassment. Force 41 vs Highlanders 27 After David Hill kicked the Force to victory last weekend he has earned a good reputation in the australian camp, now known as “the big general”. Seems like all the Force needed was a a bit of confidence because this weekend they showed everyone that they can play brilliant rugby by picking up 6 tries. The Highlanders just didn’t know what hit them, maybe a bye will do them good. Stormers 33 vs Blues 21 The Blues were thriving on their confidence after their big win last weekend and the stormers proved that they have some back bone, stepping up to the challenge. The Stormers had a huge advantage with early tries, whilst it took the Blues a hell of a long time to get into the game and then they sulked because they didn’t capitalize on the opportunities that were handed to them, shame. The Stormers are back on recovery route, doing it in style. I think they had one hell of a shock with a loss to the Force. Crusaders 20 vs Waratahs 13 The Crusaders fired up against the Tahs and everyone expected a tuff game. Headline’s claimed the game was a bruising battle, I thought it was incredible and a classic physical battle between the teams. Dan Carter recovered from his crap performance last week and The Triple C phenomenon (cutaway) were on full display as Carter kicked himself into the history books yet again. This time for becoming the leading points scorer in Super Rugby History. The Tahs who were thriving on top of the log last weekend were the victims of a defeat this weekend, again proving the unpredictability of super 14 rugby. Brumbies 61 vs Cheetahs 15 The brumbies crushed the Cheetahs with 9 tries securing their 1st bonus point victory! It’s sad to say that the cheetahs played without their captain again, condolences to captain Juan Smith and his family Reds vs Lions I was at Ellis Park to watch the last game between the Lions and the Reds. With a bye in the pocket one would expect the lions to have some more life and energy. The Reds scored 4 tries in the first 20 min and with that the Reds clinched yet another one making it 3 victories on tour as they head back home this week. I’ll give the Lions some credit on their 4 tries, at least they got a bonus point, but still winless after 9 rounds!!

http://ruggachick.com/ RUGBY: SUPER 14 2010 review Round 8 Hurricanes 26 vs Crusaders 26 We kicked off round 8 with an INTENSE game between the Crusaders and the Hurricanes. The Crusaders kicked off with a bang and Carter reached his 1000 points in super rugby, but then all hell broke loose. The Crusader’s point master had an off day and boy did that affect them. The Canes came out like a house on fire in the 2nd half and defended superbly until they lost concentration in extra time. Carter missed the final conversion, yup...you heard right he missed and the game ended up being a draw. Force 16 vs Stormers 15 I am still in Shock about the Force winning their 1st game this season against the Stormers who happens to be 2nd on the log. Wow! That was amazing, well done mates. After David Hill put that drop goal through the posts, the Force celebrated like they won the world cup and even taking a victory lap. The Stormers were not quite in the game and they just seemed lost on the field, I wonder.... Could Jet-lag be a good excuse? Blues 32 vs Bulls 17 The bulls played f#beep terrible , what the hell happened to them. The blues slammed them with a walkover. “G”! Good bye year winning streak for the Bulls they just threw that right out the window!! The Blue’s completely frustrated the Bulls ...and the Bulls just couldn’t deal with it, giving away penalties, picking up two yellow cards and they seemed to forget about their game plan, if they ever had one. Brett seemed to have the magic for the Blues and after 80 min it was a well deserved win. Chiefs 27 vs Highlanders 21 The Highlanders came out strong against the Chiefs taking the lead into halftime. the 2nd half proved to be extremely entertaining with A huge head to head clash. Donald was on a roll for the Chiefs!! Thanks to his hard efforts they managed to pick up their 1st win at home this season. Well done guys... it’s about time!! Waratahs 40 vs Cheetahs 17 The Cheetahs are seriously battling! Not only did they loose star player Heinrich Brussow but they are now on tour without their inspirational captain Juan Smith, it seems to be going down hill for them ..It has to be said loud and clear here that The Tahs are on a roll! they played with such class and style picking up a bonus point and snatching the nr 1 spot on the log away from the Bulls. The Tahs are playing SUPERB rugby Sharks 30 vs Reds 28 I expected the last game of the weekend between the Sharks and the Reds to be harsh, and a thriller it was. Shark supporters were infuriated with the referee... perhaps missing the fact that The Reds were ON FIRE! Cooper was all over the place managing to secure two valuable bonus points. The Sharks defense was solid with an amazing 94 tackles... JUST clinching the victory.

http://ruggachick.com/ RUGBY: SUPER 14 2010 review Round 7 Highlanders 39 vs Lions 29 The opening match for round 7 was played in Dunedin where the Highlanders awaited the Lions. Wow! The Lions had an incredible start, good line-outs and driving but as usual they just couldn’t hold in there. Not even 5 tries could save all those penalties they gave away. The Highlanders took about 30min to get in to the game and their fullback Isreal Dagg provided the points for them. The Highlanders picked up their 2nd win for the season and The Lions honestly have more work to do if they want to celebrate a victory anytime soon. Brumbies 30 vs Chiefs 23 It was a hard struggle in Canberra between the Brumbies and the Chiefs. Apparently the Chiefs are lacking some enthusiasm and energy, oh dear they desperately need a red bull sponsor cause 80min of intense rugby seems to be just a little to long for them. Donald plays a huge part and if he is not having a good day, the Chiefs seem lost on the field. Huxley made his return for the Brumbies after two years on the sideline and Giteau provided some good kicks sealing the win for the Brumbies. Cheetahs 10 vs Reds 31 In Bloemfontein the Cheetahs got it on with the Reds. How cool is the competition when the unexpected seems to happen most of the time. The Cheetahs are back on that familiar route in Super 14 as they experience yet another defeat. With the home advantage and home support in their pocket it still seemed like it just wasn’t enough for them to give the Reds a hard time. The Reds are definitely the most unpredictable team this season, giving the Cheetahs a great rugby lesson at home. Hurricanes 26 vs Sharks 29 Moving across the ocean the Hurricanes were back home from tour and hosted the Sharks in Wellington. The Sharks have their Mojo back and surely a last minute win against the Canes would boost their confidence. The Canes are having a hard time, they started the season with a bang and now they suffered their 4th constructive defeat. I am not sure how many years the game took off John Smit, but it was a good effort from the durban based boys. Waratahs 39 vs Blues 32 In Sydney the Waratahs welcomed the Blues. Apparently this game was one of the fastest games so far this season with both teams fighting hard for a win. Stephen Brett stepped it up for the Blues, but there is no turning back when the ball is intercepted just before full time. A great try from Turner claimed the victory and gave the home side a bonus point. The Tahs now cling on to a 4th spot on the log, whilst the Blues sadly tried showing some character. Bulls 28 vs Force 15 The Bulls kicked off their tour taking on the Force in Perth. The big question is answered yes the Bulls can win on tour. It was an unexpected game with the nr 1 taking on nr 14 on the log. Most of us probably expected a walk over, but the Force definitely had some soul forcing the Bulls to work hard for a victory. As usual Steyn’s strike rate drops on tour whilst young O’Conner dominated the kicking contest. The Bulls fought back hard in the final 20min to maintain their 100% record this season.

Blues 39 vs Brumbies 34 We kicked off round 6 with the Brumbies taking on the Blues in Auckland. The Blues secured a 3rd win for the season, leaving the Brumbies with a lot to think about. A great combination between Joe Rokocoko and Stephen Brett provided a brilliant try, leaving Matt Giteau with a headache as his kicking boot just couldn’t do the job for the Brumbies. The Blues did it in style picking up 4 tries and a bonus point to seal the deal. Bulls 19 vs Hurricanes 18 The Hurricanes traveled to Pretoria to face off with the mighty Bulls. Okay Victor played his 100th Super rugby match, but I don’t think he ever imagined it to be so intense. The Bulls trailed for most of the match against the Canes who stepped it up and brought a serious game of rugby to Loftus. The Canes had the upper hand with a 12-0 lead in the 1st 20 min and placed the Bulls under extreme pressure throughout the game. With the home crowed sitting on the edge on their seats Morne managed to put the Bulls into the lead with 15 min left on the clock. It surely was a breathtaking game!!! Crusaders 46 vs Lions 19 In Cristchurch the Crusaders welcomed the Lions. Still no win for the Lions but definitely a better game of rugby. Of course the Crusaders had home advantage scoring five tries and securing the bonus point. The Lions had a great start taking the lead, until the Crusaders got angry and ripped out that true NZ style of rugby, providing the home crowed with a celebration. Sharks 30 vs Highlanders 16 The Sharks took on the Highlanders in Dunedin. Finally the Sharks came round to pick up their 1st victory this season. It took them a long time though, but some magic happened in Sharkie land with even Stefen Terblanche scoring a try!! They outscored the Highlanders with 3 tries to 1 and managed to hang in there. The Highlanders also only secured 1 victory this season, so lets see what they can come up with next weekend. Waratahs 14 vs Force 10 In Perth the Waratahs got it on with the Force. Yay the Force managed to pick up their 1st competition point by losing to fewer than 7 points. The Force had the lead at half time, but the Tahs came out strongly in the 2nd half to snatch the victory away from the Force. It was a good effort from the Force, so let’s see if they can continue to improve their game. Stormers 21 vs Cheetahs 8 The last game of the weekend was in Cape town where the Cheetahs left behind Bloem to take on the Stormers at home. Hmm I wonder what the Cheetahs got up to with their week off and honestly does Heinrich Brussow make such a huge difference to the team that they struggle big time without him. Well well well it seems that way... One plus point for the Stormers is their sollet defense only managing to concede one try. The Cheetahs do have some problems with their discipline which cost them points and like old times the Stormers couldn’t manage to pick up that bonus point, but could however claimed the win to maintain their 2nd place on the log.

http://ruggachick.com/ RUGBY: SUPER 14 2010 Highlights Week 4 Reds 23 vs Chiefs 18 Kicking off the weekend the Chiefs and the Reds got it on in Hamilton. Here is a tip; NEVER underestimate the underdogs!! The Reds spoiled the homecoming party for the Chiefs ending that three week winning streak. As the famous saying goes - what goes up must come down and so did my fantasy league score. Brumbies 24 vs Lions 13 The lions went on tour to face the Brumbies, shame they still can’t get a win. I can imagine that it’s damn hard to try and win when you give away 18 penalties!!! Burten Francis went head to head with the crowd favorite Matt Giteau, of course Matt came out trumps with his kicking boot. Crusaders 33 vs Blues 20 The triple C phenomena: Christchurch, Crusaders and Carter! With that in mind it’s hard to think any team can manage to win the Crusaders at home even arch rivals the Blues couldn’t succeed. Credit to the Blues for pulling off a great game of rugby in the 1st half and preventing the bonus point. As always the Crusaders hit back hard in the 2nd half and gave the home crowd a celebration. Waratahs 25 vs Sharks 21 Oh dear the Sharks are still not getting it right. Andy Goode seems to love the sin bin, making it two in a row. Discipline seems to be a huge concern for the Sharks, but at least they did try to prove a point by picking up 2 tries. The Waratahs hit back powering over three tries and walked away with the victory. Stormers 33 vs Highlanders 0 The Stromers were ready for business at Newlands, making sure that they won’t loose two weeks in a row. They provided the fans with some classy rugby, scoring brilliant tries and picking up a bonus point. The Highlanders had to defend as if their lives depended on it, but couldn’t even manage to reach the score board. Shame!! Cheetahs 28 vs Hurricanes 12 Last game of the weekend was at Bloemfontein where the Cheetahs made sure the Hurricanes understood clearly that they were on Cheetah turf. The previously unbeaten Hurricanes scored two tries but a dangerous spear tackle from Nonu landed him in the sin bin. The Cheetahs fought back with an excellent try from Kabamba Floors that clinched the victory at home.

http://ruggachick.com/ RUGBY: SUPER 14 2010 Highlights Week 1 Sharks vs Crusaders We kicked off the weekend with the Sharks and the Crusaders. All Blacks Captain Richie Macaw makes his return to the Crusaders, whilst the Sharks Captain John Smith spent most of his time in the blood bin. It went all wrong for the Sharks! A high tackle on Carter landed them in trouble and Dan just punished them with his famous boot, claiming the Win for the Crusaders. Stormers vs Brumbies At Newlands the Stormers seemed to go of their rails a bit by not sticking to their game plan. They played badly and all those knock on’s and dropped passes cost them the game. Pietersen and Giteau had a good kicking contest, but with Giteau dominating and the adding try from Smith clinched the victory for the Brumbies . Hurricanes vs Lions Oh no the Lions could’t succeed again they were simply outplayed and outscored by the Hurricanes in Wellington. The Hurricanes picked up a yellow card though, but it didn’t stop them to ease past the Lions and walk away with a win and a bonus point. Reds vs Blues The Reds just couldn’t make it two in a row. Their new “free” playing style just wasn’t good enough to hold off the Blues. Stehpen Brett had a fantastic game, but in the end the late try from Wulf sealed the deal for the Blues. Force vs Chiefs It’s was interesting to see what the Chiefs would come up with after all those yellow cards last week, but No worries the Chiefs are on a roll, smashing the Force in Perth. The Force on the other hand are in trouble, suffering their third straight loss! Cheetahs vs Highlanders The Ceetahs struggled to get a back to back win. In Bloemfontein the Highlanders brought them a game and with both teams scoring some excellent tries, the Highlanders walk away with the win. Bulls vs Waratahs The last game of the weekend was at Loftus and the atmosphere in the stadium was electric. The home side was caught of side with the Waratahs scoring two quick tries in the first 10 min. The Bulls had the home crowd behind them and managed to bounce back picking up 4 tries and yet another bonus point. They are quite unstoppable as they cling on to that top spot of log. I was at Loftus and caught up with a proud Blue Bull fan.

SUPER 14 RUGBY 2010: Week 2 Yükleyen: ruggachick
http://ruggachick.com/ RUGBY: SUPER 14 2010 Highlights Week 1 Good day fans! Welcome to your super 14 Update, I’m RuggaChick. Wow what a weekend of rugby!!! 52 tries scored in total, 7 yellow cards and no Bulls Babes at Loftus any more!!! 1. Highlanders vs Blues: (5 Tries) Highlanders Yellow Josh Bekhuis Blues Yellow Rene Ranger The 1st game of the weekend was quite a cracker!! The Highlanders looked like they dominated the game, until two quick tries early in the second half turned the game around for the Blues. With both teams receiving a yellow card it’s was quite a battle, but the Blues managed to clinch the victory. Reds vs Crusaders: (6 tries) Reds Yellow Adam Byrnes Crusaders Yellow Ben Franks When looking at the record between the Reds and Crusaders where the Crusaders won the last 11 games, I was very surprised by the performance from the Reds. They were of top of there game and the Crusaders tried their best, but they were frequently caught of side which cost them points. The Reds enjoyed 91% of the possession in the second half and celebrated a victory with a bonus point. 3. Sharks vs Cheetahs: (2 tries) The Sharks and Cheetahs battled it out in Durban, but the guys struggled to maintain good discipline and penalties were given left and right. Half time the referee’s changed and so did the attitude of the Sharks, picking up an early try in the 2nd half, but ball handling became a problem for them and the Cheetahs smiled with every penalty and cliched a victory. 5. Lions vs Chiefs: (18 tries) Chief Yellow Cards to Sione Lauaki, Aled de Malmanche, Richard Kahiu Having a look at the 18 try match in Johannesburg. The Chiefs were boosting with confidence picking up their 1st try in the first minute. Critics have it that the lions are a bunch of no name branders, but I can honestly say that have some heart and did well to try and get back into the game. Both teams pick up a bonus point, but in the end the Chiefs celebrated the victory. It will be interesting to see what the Chiefs can come up with next weekend with two of their star players banned. 6. Hurricanes vs Western Force: (10 tries) The Hurricanes showed that they were ready for business by scoring 7 tries and picking up a bonus point, the force desperately tried staying in the game, but not even the kicking boot of O’Conner could safe them. Bulls vs Brumbies: ( 8 tries) The Brumbies need to have a look at their discipline giving away 7 penalties in only 16 minutes.. Now that is one way of looking for trouble!! The Bulls cruised to victory scoring 5 tries and gaining the bonus point for two consecutive weeks in a row. 8. Stormers vs Waratahs (3 tries) Looking at the last game for the weekend the Stormers vs Waratahs need to chill a bit, wow what tension between the teams giving away quite a lot of penalties, but in the end the stormers were in control of the score board and celebrated a great victory.

RUGBY 2010: SUPER 14 (Results Week 1) Yükleyen: ruggachick
http://ruggachick.com/ What an action packed weekend to kick off the super 14 season for 2010. I can’t get my head around the fact that the lights went out in the 55th minute in Bloemfontein and then the match officials could only manage to get some of the lights back on. I could hardly see what was going on, on my TV!!!! Bulls & Cheetahs: The Bulls couldn’t ask for a better way to start the season with six tries, a bonus point and Morne Steyn reaching 500 points in Super Rugby.. The Cheetahs were left in the dark... Stormers & Lions: The Stormers made a good buy with Jaque Fourie scoring his 1st try in WP colors & Habanna created a super try, sending Joe Pietersen over in the 1st half, King Carlos left the being replaced by Michael Killian who scored the only try for the lions. Sharks & Chiefs: Despite two yellow cards, the Sharks thought they were in control of the points table and then suddenly a knock on in the 79th minute cost them victory. The late penalty from Stephen Donald sealed a victory for the Chiefs. Reds & Waratahs: The Waratahs snatched a victory from the Reds in the final minute, I think that had luck on their side, that drop goal from Berrick Barnes was pure luck Crusaders & Highlanders: Dan Carter made sure his presence was felt at Christchurch steering the Crusaders to victory. Western Force & Brumbies: The Brumbies scored all the tries in the game and the poor W’Force has to rely on the boot of O’Connor, but the attention was on Stirling Mortlock who became the 1st player to reach a 1000 points in Super Rugby. Blues & Hurricanes: The blues are making excuses already... Apparently they are struggling with the new interpretations of the laws... Well maybe next time they should focus on their opponents instead Ass of the week: Oh no... The men in black down in Durban will have to work on some discipline, one would think Springbok Captain John Smit and powerhouse Bismark Du Plessis would prefer to stay on the pitch than having a 10min time out in the sin bin...

Rugby 101 - Counterattack

Rugby 101 - Counterattack Yükleyen: ruggachick
http://ruggachick.com/ Rugby 101 - Counterattack It’s very simple, if a player kicks the ball down field it may be caught by an opponent who rather than returning the kick, may elect a counter attack forward. The cool thing about this is that it often catches the opponent unaware, because in most cases they expect a kick back. This allows some space for the ball carrier more than what he is used to and at that point any opponents that were in front of the kicker are initially offside. The only disadvantage of this method is that usually the ball carrier’s team mates are some distance up field and unable to provide the support if the ball carrier is tackled by an opponent.
